Skin rejuvenation: structural repair of the dermis
Skin ageing is a multifactorial process in which collagen production declines, elastin fibres weaken and the skin's structure loses its firmness. Wrinkles, skin laxity and loss of volume are the result of changes deep in the dermis — not merely superficial conditions.
Effective skin rejuvenation targets this underlying structure: stimulating collagen production and skin repair at dermal level in a controlled way. Treatment depth, intensity and the recovery period are a deliberate part of the strategy here — patients who opt for structural repair generally also accept a longer recovery time in exchange for a more pronounced and lasting result.
Technologies for structural skin rejuvenation
Ablative fractional lasers such as the eCO2 (Ultraclear) remove microscopic columns in the upper skin layer and thereby trigger a powerful collagen response in the dermis. The result is a significant improvement in wrinkles, skin texture and firmness — but it comes with a recovery period of several days to a week, depending on the intensity.
Non-ablative fractional lasers such as the MOSAIC 3D work deeper in the dermis without removing the epidermis. They build up collagen stimulation step by step with more limited downtime — suitable for patients who want a gradual but structural result.
RF Microneedling with the Genius® combines mechanical stimulation by microneedles with controlled heat delivery via radiofrequency deep in the dermis. This makes it particularly effective for skin laxity, moderate wrinkles and restructuring the skin's architecture — including in areas where laser carries more risk, such as the neck and décolleté.
Picosecond systems such as the PicoSure Pro and the Picoplus stimulate collagen production through a photomechanical action with minimal thermal damage. They can be used as a complement for fine lines and texture improvement, including in patients with a lower tolerance for downtime.
The ETHEREA-MX® with Dualmode® applicator offers a combination of deep RF and fractional laser in a single platform — relevant for practices that want to build a broad rejuvenation offering from one investment.
The practice perspective
Skin rejuvenation at dermal level is an indication aimed at a patient segment that makes considered choices: they are looking for a structural result and are willing to plan in the necessary treatment and recovery period. This segment generally also has a higher willingness to invest per treatment.
For practices, this means that skin rejuvenation combines a relatively low treatment frequency with higher revenue per session. Combining ablative and non-ablative systems makes it possible to offer both intensive and gradual pathways within the same practice.
Medi-Invest supports you in building a coherent skin rejuvenation offering — including clinical training, treatment protocols and long-term technical aftercare.
